A stunning Grade II Listed barn conversion in Newbury that Andrew worked on in collaboration with another practice in 2013. Part of the existing barn had already been converted in to habitable accommodation and you can see this part towards the north end of the site, closest to the main farm house.
The remaining barns had been used for storage, vehicle maintenance and general use serving the surrounding farms.
The conversion created a large kitchen, dining and living area that capitalised upon the views across farmland. In between the existing timber columns and beams large grey aluminium bi-folding doors were placed sensitively ensuring the existing fabric remained un-touched thus enhancing the balance between new and existing structures.
The two bedrooms were re-sited in to the north aspect of the barns, offering a level of increased privacy whilst still maintaining critical views.
